Mount Allison University

In 2010, Mount Allison University gave an honorary degree to Heather Reisman, co-founder of the HESEG Foundation for Lone Soldiers, which encourages non-israeli citizens to join the israeli army. In 2023, the university gave an honorary degree to Deborah Lyons, Canada’s former ambassador to israel, who also gave a speech at the convocation ceremony. Lyons is viewed by many as an ally of israel and has also been accused of helping to enable the occupation by supporting Lone Soldiers. Additionally, Mount Allison has significant investments in companies complicit in the israeli occupation and genocide.
