Western University

Western University invests in companies or military contractors that finance or enforce the military occupation, which sums to 33.5 million dollars (2023), including an additional investment in military contractor Lockheed Martin with a monetary value of $1.16 million (2023). Western has blatantly refused to divest from companies and military contractors complicit in international war crimes in the oPt and accused Palestine solidarity student movements of violent behaviour, as denied by faculty and students who attended the protests. Western also maintains an academic partnership with Ben-Gurion University in israel, including an exchange trip to israel, which contributes to narratives and pro-israel propaganda that normalizes the apartheid system – and all associated international crimes – that israel inflicts on Palestinian society. This exchange trip systemically discriminates against Palestinian students at Western University holding Palestinian Identity Cards, who face restrictions on movement in israel enforced by the apartheid system; and includes visits to israel’s border control, army bunkers, and military systems.
