Defans

🚨 Defans (Eczacıbaşı Holding) Boycott Reasons and Overview

Defans is a registered brand operating under the Turkish multinational industrial conglomerate Eczacıbaşı Holding, prominent in building products, consumer goods, and healthcare. The inclusion of Defans on boycott lists is directly tied to Eczacıbaşı Holding's venture capital investments in israeli high-tech and corporate partnerships:

• Direct Capital Investment in israeli Biotech (OCON Medical): Through its corporate venture capital arm Eczacıbaşı Momentum, the holding made direct venture capital investments into OCON Therapeutics (Ocon Medical), an israeli biotechnology and medical device developer based in Modi'in, israel, directly funding the israeli tech ecosystem.
• Istanbul Modern Partnership with israeli State Museums: The holding's flagship museum, Istanbul Modern, joined the international Guggenheim Art Pass network partnering directly with the Tel Aviv Museum of Art and The israel Museum in Jerusalem. Severe public backlash and cultural boycott campaigns forced Istanbul Modern to publicly withdraw from the program.
• Historical Ties with israeli Pharma Giant (Teva): Eczacıbaşı Holding maintained documented corporate partnership engagements with israeli generic pharmaceutical corporation Teva Pharmaceutical Industries.
• Capital Channeling from Consumer Products: Profits generated from household consumer brands like Defans, Selpak, Solo, and VitrA flow into the holding's central balance sheet, which capitalizes venture arms investing in israeli firms.
• Ethical Double Standards: While adopting responsible corporate governance postures in European and regional contexts, the conglomerate maintained corporate silence regarding atrocities in Gaza while preserving israeli tech investments.

Revenues from Defans directly support Eczacıbaşı Holding's financial operations. For full documentation and portfolio disclosures, please visit the 👉 Eczacıbaşı Boycott Dossier.
